COOL DIVING NORTH STAR BAY

Diving near the dive club.

The dive season at Thule Air Base often begins late June or early July due to ice covering North Star Bay. In 2006 we where lucky to be able to plunge into the cold water early July. Although while entering the water it looks free of ice, we can still experience the tide bringing ice formation back into the shore. As the pictures show below, we where caught in a situation with ice coming back in with the tide, all while we where underwater for about 30 minutes.
